I was looking for a unique present for someone who is very eco and health conscious, and at about the same time I received an email from Cynthia over at Healthy Kitchenware. Great timing! She shared with me the story behind her company and the benefits of her products. Her company promotes reducing plastic in items used to store and prepare food, and instead recommends stainless steel. She sent me a stainless steel lunch carrier with accompanying sauce container. This is great for friends/family who take their lunch to work. I tried it out and love it. It sells for only $15.99 on their website which puts it in the ‘affordable gift’ category. Buy this lunch carrier or other items from their site today!

That is really neat, and the price is comparable to all plastic containers of that type. I am just curious, are they heavier than normal food containers? And can you wash them in the dishwasher?
Thank you for the great post!

We used to have these as kids in India. Only problem I foresee with it is that its not microwave safe. Warming food is a hassle…unless like my colleagues, we have plates in our offices as well.

I’ve thought of this as well Kashmira! Its basically one extra step because you’ve got to transfer contents to a separate plate/container that is microwave safe. This is the point though. Many people bring their lunch to work in some sort of plastic container which they put directly into the microwave to heat. Chemicals from the plastic seep into the food increasing the level of toxins in the body and increasing the chance of various cancers. It may take a little longer to warm your lunch but its well worth it.
