While you may be thinking outside the box for work, you can now live in it when you get home! More and more people are building homes from recycled freight containers. The original idea of using the containers for abodes was started by TempoHousing. Their original idea was to use these old containers as temporary housing units. Those units inspired a number of designers to create more complex homes utilizing the recycled freight containers. The containers are stackable which makes building multi level homes possible while still being aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Many designers have built “container” homes complete with multiple bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, and game room. Homes can be put together within weeks and some cities are using these to develop cheap but durable low income housing. Chic housing that is cost effective and uses recycled material for a chic product. I love it! Contact Habode to inquire about buying your own home in a box.

DeMaria Design house is in Redondo Beach, CA. I’ve seen it and it is unbelievable – real cargo containers and it doesn’t look like something down at the dock. That architect does more than cargo container buildings and most everything I’ve seen on their website is refined design. Creative and informative post. Thanks! Jason
