I Love your Package!

Designer David Gardener used inspiration to create the ‘Packaging Lamp‘ which is a lamp made from its retail packaging.  Gardener was tired of buying products, using the product, and then throwing out the packaging. It inspired him to create the concept of incorporating the packaging in the design of the actual product.   The cardboard packaging forms the exterior base and shade of the lamp and included in the packaging are the electrical cords and the light bulb.  I’m not sure how popular the ‘Packaging Lamp’ itself will be and if safety concerns such as short circuits leading to fires have been addressed.   Nonetheless, Mr. Gardener has opened up the idea of a trend towards using the packaging in the design and I commend him.  If more designers can incorporate packaging into the product design, the world will be a greener place.

Pray there isn't a short circuit in this lamp.
